BROOKLINE,
MASSACHUSETTS--Stephen Shore has completed his second book that focuses on
helping people with autism and Asperger syndrome to advocate for
themselves.
"Ask and Tell: Self Advocacy and Disclosure for People on the Autism Spectrum" includes a foreword by Temple Grandin, and chapters written by other authors that have these disabilities.
"I see so many people with disabilities who don't know how to advocate for their own needs," Shore told the Boston Globe.
The book addresses the question of whether or when one should disclose that they have autism or Asperger syndrome.
It also encourages young people to be active participants in their individualized education plans as early as possible.
