Justice Department Commends University For Accessible Parking
Agreement
By Dave Reynolds, Inclusion Daily Express

2008
COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA--Fans of University of South Carolina
football will soon have accessible parking, along with wheelchair-lift equipped
transportation to and from the school's stadium during home games, the U.S.
Department of Justice announced Wednesday.
University officials agreed to provide accessible parking and transportation at Williams-Brice Stadium to settle a complaint filed with the U.S. Attorney's Office in 2006. That complaint claimed that the stadium's lack of accessible parking violated the Americans with Disabilities Act.
According to WIS-TV, the Office for Civil Rights within the U.S. Department of Education investigated the claims and determined that USC was, indeed, violating the federal law.
"I commend the University of South Carolina for recognizing that the parking situation at the stadium in effect denied handicapped fans access to the games," said U.S. Attorney Reginald Lloyd in a DOJ press statement. "Its willingness to help this group of fans make USC a real winner."
